Standardized and Targeted Education

  • Chair: Hillary Turner, CNP, PC Provider, Avera McKennan Palliative Medicine

This committee will be responsible for developing professional education that is competency-based to ensure all providers, regardless of discipline or location, have the skills needed for high-quality primary palliative care and hospice care.  Standardized to ensure quality care across the state and targeted to meet the needs of the healthcare professionals and communities.

Unified Messaging and Collaborative Networks

  • Chair: Jane Kroese, ARPN, CNP, ACHPN, Nurse Practitioner, Sanford Health

This committee will be responsible for creating a consistent messaging plan for palliative care and hospice care.  The messaging plan will be used across organizations and will leverage existing networks to amplify the reach and impact of the message to aid with care transitions and ensures all stakeholders- providers, patients and families- receive clear information about palliative care and hospice care.

Policy & Reimbursement Advancement

  • Chair: Deb Fischer-Clemens, BSN, MHA, Consultant, DFC Consulting

This committee will be responsible for enhancing and/or developing policies that impact access to palliative care and hospice care across the state and create sustainability for interdisciplinary teams either in a facility, a clinic or wherever a patient calls home.

Rural Access and Workforce Champions

  • Chair: Kayla Wolff, BSN, RN, Nurse Manager, Mobridge Regional Hospital

This committee will work with communities across the state to build local expertise and help scale palliative care and hospice programs especially to rural or underserved areas.  It will work closely with the Standardized and Targeted Education committee.
